A Life of Great Meaning: Changing Our Heart, Life, and World
April 5-7 A Special Weekend with Internationally Renowned Meditation Teacher Kadam Lucy James
During this unparalleled weekend event, Kadam Lucy James will guide us step by step into recognizing, awakening, and nourishing our deep potential for unbiased compassion and a “supreme good heart”, also known as bodhichitta. Through this healing transformation, we actually become the peace that can change our world.
Friday Night Lecture: Changing Our Heart 7 PM-8:30 PM
Kadam Lucy will help us experience one of the most cherished notions in all of Buddhism, which is bodhichitta — a spontaneous wish to realize our full spiritual potential so as to be of maximum assistance to as many living beings as possible. This vision is a big one, but even if we merely take on the role of a Bodhisattva-in-training to begin with, we can accomplish amazing things in our world.
Saturday Retreat: Changing Our Life 9 AM-4 PM
The journey a Bodhisattva takes toward realizing their potential and helping everyone else is known as the six perfections — six beneficial minds and trainings that bring us happiness and “perfect” our good qualities. These are giving, ethics, patient acceptance, joy, meditation, and wisdom. During this retreat Kadam Lucy will explain a perfection in each session, showing how to integrate them into our daily activities so that our whole life becomes inspiring and meaningful.
Special Sunday Morning Class: Changing Our World 10-11:30 AM
Finally, we will see how changing our mind really does change our world. We will be left with a deep confidence that can only be found through developing our compassion and wisdom and then helping others to do the same through our practical, joyful way of being.
“Nowadays, with the world in turmoil, there is a particular need for Westerners to cultivate bodhichitta. If we are to make it through these perilous times, true Bodhisattvas must appear in the west as well as in the east.” Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, Meaningful to Behold
These teachings will be derived from the famous Buddhist poem, Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life, composed by the Buddhist Master Shantideva.
