All Kadampa centers are dedicated to all living beings. They belong to them, remaining in their service for all time, and can never be taken over by individuals or organizations and used for other purposes.
For this reason, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche says that these centers are very precious and that whenever we engage in an action to benefit a center we are in fact benefitting all living beings. Through such actions we accumulate vast merit, purify negativities, and receive powerful blessings.
We set aside time each month for an opportunity for people to come together and cherish our center and in this way benefit our local community practically. Everyone welcome!
If you are new, and wondering how to participate in Center Cherishing, send an e-mail to [email protected] or call us at (608) 661-3211. While different months may have a main focus such as preparing our meditation room for a large event, we always have a list of projects and tasks from yard work, to cleaning, organizing, and creating. There are many ways to help! Reach out with any questions you may have.

Half day workshop
This is an in-person event with livestream attendance available for members!
If we want to enjoy meditation and integrate it into our life, it helps to create a special space for it—especially helpful when life gets stressful. This course is an opportunity to understand the beauty and power of setting up a Buddhist shrine that will act as a focus for the energy of our spiritual practice. We will explore the meaning behind the different elements of a traditional shrine as well as essential aspects of setting it up and making offerings. Our personal shrine will become a refuge, supporting our meditation and making our spiritual practice joyful and fulfilling.
Everyone welcome.

The New Year is a symbol of possibility. We wish to change and for our lives to go in a better direction but for that to happen we need to connect with the potential that exists within our minds. As 2023 comes to a close, our thoughts turn to new beginnings and a fresh start.
Within Buddhist meditation we find transformative tools to give greater meaning to our life and the ability to become the person we wish to be: more loving, peaceful, and happier.
In this New Years Eve talk, Gen Kelsang Dorje will explore how we can use Buddhist meditation to set a special intention for the New Year giving us the ability to make the most of 2024. We will then engage in prayers to Arya Tara.
When asked how we can best help the world Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche advised us to pray to Arya Tara, our Blessed Mother.
When we are young, we turn to our worldly mother for help. She protects us from immediate dangers, provides us with all our temporal needs, and guides and encourages us in our learning and personal development. In the same way, during our spiritual growth, we need to turn to our Holy Mother, Tara, for refuge. She protects us from all internal and external dangers, she provides us with all the necessary conditions for our spiritual training, and she guides us and inspires us with her blessings as we progress along the spiritual path.”
