Meditation Retreat: Shelter from the Storm

Our objects of refuge are what we turn to to relieve our suffering. We seek refuge because we need protection from our suffering and problems. Sometimes the things we turn to help a little, sometimes however, they seem to cause more problems! So we need to find non-deceptive objects of refuge.

Buddhist refuge brings about a lasting solution to our problems by focusing on their deeper causes, which lie within our mind. The word for Buddha’s teachings, Dharma, actually means protection. It is the medicine that pacifies and eventually cures all mental and physical pain.

In this retreat, we learn how to take refuge in the states of mind that give us real and lasting protection from all the storms of our life. We can overcome our negative states of mind, find mental balance, and ultimately permanent freedom from all problems
