About the teacher

Gen Kelsang Dorje is the resident teacher at the Kadampa Meditation Center Madison. As the resident teacher Gen Dorje is responsible for teaching and leading meditation classes, retreats, and workshops at the center and in branch locations. He has received extensive training under the guidance of Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, the founder of the New Kadampa Tradition. Gen Dorje is known for his warmth and humor in making Buddha’s teachings relevant to our modern life. He is an inspiring example of how to integrate these teachings into a joyful life and is committed to helping people improve their daily lives through meditation and mindfulness.

Join us for a day of fun and fundraising for world peace!

We will gather at Orchid Heights Park Shelter in Middleton. We will engage in a guided meditation, walk together through the beautiful Pheasant Branch Conservancy and then return to the shelter for a picnic!

Our goal for this fundraiser is to raise $20,000

All funds raised will support KMC Madison’s efforts to help people in the Midwest develop peaceful minds. By increasing our own inner peace, we can bring about world peace.

As our founder, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso (Geshe-la) says,
“Without inner peace, outer peace is impossible.” 

A donation of any size contributes to KMC Madison’s dedication to World Peace. These donations will help us make needed improvements to our property, in additions to helping us fund a number of community outreach projects. 

Your donation helps people develop inner peace through learning Buddha’s teachings. These teachings create a ripple effect in our community; bringing peace to each person who hears them and then shares them with their friends, neighbors and world. Help create a positive ripple in your community.

Understanding and meditating on death and impermanence can be used to overcome uncontrolled desires and anxiety. By deeply contemplating the fact that life is fragile and death is certain—but the exact time of death is unknown—practitioners are inspired to live purposely taking full advantage of their precious human life and not to waste a second of it. Come and be inspired to live fully and courageously.

Receiving the empowering blessings of Medicine Buddha 

Medicine Buddha is the embodiment of the healing power of all enlightened beings. His function is to liberate living beings from outer and inner sickness. At this special event, Gen Dorje will grant the Empowerment of Medicine Buddha and give commentary to the Medicine Buddha Sadhana practice.

With Medicine Guru’s blessings, we will heal our mind and gain more wisdom on how best to help ourselves and others. We gain more confidence and power to heal our world through our prayers.

An empowerment is a special blessing ceremony, consisting of a series of guided visualizations designed to bestow special blessings, heal our mental continuum, and awaken one’s Buddha nature.

Karma refers to actions, their effects, and their potentialities; it is the natural law of cause and effect. Every mental, physical, and verbal action leaves an imprint on the mind that eventually ripens into future experiences, meaning all happiness is the result of virtuous actions and all suffering stems from non-virtuous ones.
